8Born On Aq Vetina
There seem to be an infinite amount of hospitable planets inStar Wars, each brimming with its own individual setting and distinct blueprints, yet there is one universe constant: humans migrate and hail there. Din Djarin is one of the humans born onto Aq Vetina, a planet that hasn’t been seen outside ofThe Mandalorian.
Knowing that Din Djarin isn’t born from Mandalore, but actually from Aq Vetina may be important information later on down the line, as who knows when Din Djarin may have to return to his home planet to face the tragedy of his past.
7Rescued By Death Watch
Din Djarin would not be a Foundling if not for Death Watch. For context, Death Watch was a splinter group of Mandalorians that opposed the government on Mandalore. Their decision to become terrorists and warriors like their people before them was out of disagreement with the new direction on Mandalore as a pacifist governing system.
Death Watch may have been exiled from Mandalore, but it did not stop them from showing the galaxy their ways of combat, which led them to Aq Vetina, where Death Watch saved a young Din Djarin from Separatist droids, and took him in as a Foundling.
6Orphaned During The Clone Wars
Although the timeline ofThe Mandaloriancan seem somewhat messy, audiences may be surprised to know that the character was aroundduring The Clone Wars. This means that a young Din Djarin was enjoying life whilst Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi were off on adventures with Ahsoka Tano.

However, as the Jedi get into adventures in a war-torn galaxy, people like Din Djarin are left in misery. Separatists attacked Din Djarin’s homeworld, and his mother and father hid him. Whilst his parents were killed in this attack, Din Djarin was left alone and scared, orphaned as a result of the war between the Grand Republic and the Separatist Alliance.
5Hatred For Droids
Fans may remember a few episodes intoThe Mandalorian, where Din Djarin expresses his distrust for droids. This is part of Din Djarin’s character and seems to be trauma over his childhood. Considering that Din’s parents were killed by a battle droid, and he stared down the barrel of a wrist blaster from one, it’s safe to say Din’s hatred for droids runs deep.
So far, Din Djarin has only trusted one droid, that being the reprogrammed assassin droid IG-11. Other than this IG unit, Din has a strong distrust of any droid, no matter their usefulness. Perhapsthis will change later down the line.
4Separated From Grogu For 2 Years
Some fans were disappointed by the fact that Grogu and Din Djarin were reunited so soon, after such little time apart. However, what felt like mere months for fans, was actually almost 2 years in-universe. The producers ofThe Mandalorianexplained thatGrogu had spent just under 2 years with Luke Skywalker.
It was clear that Din had an attachment to Grogu. After all, Din broke the ways of a Mandalorian by showing his face, expecting to see his Force-sensitive adoptive son one last time. Their reunion is sweet, and Grogu certainly is Mando’s Foundling.
3Part Of The Tribe
Before his exile, Din Djarin was a part of The Tribe, which is a Mandalorian clan that consists of adults and children that follows the Way of the Mandalore. By people born on Mandalore, The Tribe isoften seen as a cultand a spawn of Death Watch. For some, The Tribe is a cult that uses their destroyed world as a perverse way to take their identity.

There is certainly an elitist mentality in Mandalore, but The Tribe seems to treat its members as family, even if they fight. There are so few Mandalorians left, and The Tribe seems to lose members every day.
2Origins Of The Darksaber
As of the beginning ofThe MandalorianSeason 3, Din Djarin stillwields the Darksaber.This ancient black-bladed lightsaber is one-of-a-kind and was created by the first Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Vizsla. To be the owner of this weapon, one must beat the wielder in combat, which is just what Din Djarin did against Moff Gideon.
The Darksaber has a long history and has had wielders like Bo-Katan, and even the sinister Darth Maul. Maul wielded the Darksaber for quite some time, and it’s rather haunting to see Din Djarin wield the very blade that caused Obi-Wan Kenobi so much pain.
1The Apostate
One of the most important practices of being a Mandalorian is that one may never remove their helmet in the presence of others. In removing a Mandalorian’s helmet, they are breaking one of the sacred traditions. To do so forced against their will, or even willingly, is seen as an unforgivable act.
The awfulcrime of removing one’s helmetis exactly what Din Djarin has done, which is why he is labeled as an Apostate. To remove this title, rejoin The Tribe, and show his commitment to the Way of the Mandalore, Din Djarin must travel to Mandalore and bathe inthe living watersof the mines of Mandalore, or he will never be a Mandalorian.
