The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanosrecently released, inviting players back to the world of Halcyon. Players who purchase the DLC will be granted access to the planet of Eridanos after watching the unfortunate and untimely death of Halcyon Helen. The aetherwave serial actress is abruptly killed and players must play detective to figure out just ‘whodunit.’The Outer Worldsis known for its dark humor, whichMurder on Eridanoshas plenty of. As the DLC progresses and players begin to look for clues surrounding Helen’s murder, they’ll meet a unique cast of characters.
Four of these characters quickly emerge as suspects in Halcyon Helen’s death. Much like the first DLC,Peril on Gorgon, players should be wary of trusting anyone they encounter during their time on Eridanos. Prophet of Profitability
The Prophet of Profitability lives deep in the wilderness on Eridanos in an abandoned Rizzo’s facility. She runs a private retreat that’s dedicated to helping people tap into their full, profitable, potential. When players initially land on Eridanos and talk to the bellhop, he reveals that Helen had left the Grand Colonial with the Prophet. As one of the last people to see Helen alive, this makes her a prime suspect. Beyond being one of the few to see her before her demise, the Prophet also seemingly had a bone to pick with Helen.
Previously,the star had said she wouldn’tconsider attending the Prophet’s retreat, which in turn hurt the retreat’s reputation and sales. Business slander has been enough to drive people to murder before, so it wouldn’t be a surprising motive when it comes to the Prophet. However, with the help of the Discrepancy Amplifier, players can uncover some interesting details to paint a clearer picture of what actually goes on at the Prophet’s retreat. It might be beneficial for players to complete the “The Man Who Chafed” quest before investigating the Prophet in “The Productivity Queen.”
Black Hole Bertie
Former love interests are always a prime suspect when it comes to murder investigations. Especiallysomeone like “Black Hole” Bertie, the star of the Rizzo’s Rangers tossball team, who has a known anger problem. Players must use the Discrepancy Amplifier to investigate a ruined picnic that Bertie had laid out for himself and Helen (real name Ruth Bellamy.) It’s safe to think that Bertie may have killed Helen in a fit of anger after an argument and break up at the picnic area.
It takes a bit of time to track down Bertie, but his alibi is flimsy at best. He seems sincere when he speaks, but it’s a shot in the dark to corroborate his alibi.Players have the option to confirm his alibias an optional part of the “Prince of Tossball” quest. If players really want a fun experience when interrogating Bertie, they should bring along Felix and Vicar Max — the two resident tossball fans aboard The Unreliable.

Spencer Woolrich
Like Halcyon Helen, Spencer Woolrich is a star of the aetherwave serials. He was quite highly regarded and well-known in his youth, but it seems his fame has faded as he’s aged. When the coroner reveals what killed Halcyon Helen, she also lets the player know that the former starlet had previously ingested poison when she’d last eaten. The coroner suggeststalking to Helen’s co-star Spencer, as he’d also complained about his food; his complaints were a regular occurrence, though.
As someone who had the spotlight for so long, it’s not hard for players to guess what Spencer’s motive would be for killing Helen. A dethroned aetherwave serial star would be bound to get jealous, especially with all the attention Halcyon Helen garnered. Players have the ability to approach Spencer and ask him about his relationship with Helen. Like Sedrick Kincannon, Spencer has a unique disposition that will make him difficult, and perhaps a bit annoying, to figure out.
Sedrick Kincannon
Players will meet Sedrick Kincannonpretty immediately after beginning the DLC. A video call is initiated to hire the Stranger as a detective to investigate Halcyon Helen’s murder, and one of the three people on the call is Sedrick. He’s the leader of SubLight Underground (SLUG) on Eridanos and oversees the Grand Colonial hotel that players use as a quest hub during the DLC. Initially, Sedrick doesn’t seem to have any reason to kill Halcyon Helen.
However, after talking with him for the “Lord of Blight” quest, it’s clear that Sedrick likes to toy with people.His alibi on the night Helen was killedis that he was torturing someone else. Besides, Sedrick isn’t very forthcoming with answers and has a strange disposition. His perplexing mannerisms and patterns of speech will keep players guessing as to why he would have wanted Halcyon Helen dead.
As with any good mystery, nothing is as it seems in theMurder on EridanosDLC. Players will uncover more secrets and deception the further they delve into the story, making it difficult to tell who’s lying or telling the truth. While these are all the main suspects in Halcyon Helen’s murder,players may uncover more optionsthe more they learn about Helen’s life and the circumstances on Eridanos. Ultimately, it’s up to players to point the finger and find out who killed Halcyon Helen.
