Another episode ofWandaVisionhas come and gone, and with it comes that brief window of opportunity to discuss theories before the next installment blows it all out of the water (as well as enjoyingthat catchy song that came with the latest big reveal). This week, one such area of speculation involves S.W.O.R.D. Agent Monica Rambeau and her intrepid journey back into the Hex. More specifically, what will be the ultimate result of all that rewriting her body has gone through?

Well, Monica’s actress herself, Teyonah Parris, has weighed in on the issue, at least as much as she can without ruining the surprise. After all,WandaVisionis nothing if not cryptic. While audiences have already gotten a taste of Monica’s powers in the form of glowy eyes and a really solid superhero landing that would makeDeadpoolproud, that clearly won’t be the extent of what she can do.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show, Parris discussed Monica’s powers, not just in the show, but in the comics as well. “We get a taste of the fact that there is something that is changed,” she said, “and we have to stay tuned to find out exactly how that will manifest itself. But in the comics, she can absorb all energy on the electromagnetic spectrum.” Powers like that could definitely be of use whenfighting, say, a grieving superhero whose red energy powers have turned an entire town into hostages.

Granted, this only refers to Monica’s powers in the comics, as Parris is specifically barred from revealing anything having to do with the show’s upcoming episodes. But it’s worth noting that, whileMarvel does enjoy taking some libertieswith the stories they adapt to the big (and now small) screen, the core ideas tend to stay intact. If the comics gave Monica certain powers, odds are the Marvel Cinematic Universe will follow suit.

Fans who recognized the character of Monica from her first film appearance in 2019’sCaptain Marvel(albeit at a much younger age) were likely already expecting something special from her when she showed up onWandaVision. Being a young friend to a superhero seems to be a surefire way to ensure somebody will be important later on in one way or another. Well, either that or the young friend will die in a tragic accident that motivates the hero. Luckily for Monica, this situation seems to follow the former trend.

There are still a multitude of unanswered questions when it comes toWandaVision, and there’s even a good chance that this particular one will be answered by the time some people read this. So perhaps the best thing to do is just take it all in stride, becausethis wild series is showing no signs of slowing down, and it seems fans would have it no other way.
