Some ofElden Ring’sbiggest weapons are the Colossal Swords. These weapons swing very slowly but deal enough damage to compensate for the lack of speed. While many weapons are inherently better than others, upgrades let players take their favorite weapons and use them throughout the game.
TheGreatswordis a Colossal Sword and is a fairly powerful weapon players can get early into the game if they know where to look. While it may not be the best weapon in the game, it does have the basis for being upgraded to be a very viable option for most of the game for aStrength-focused build. This weapon also bears a striking resemblance to Guts' Sword from the popular mangaBerserk.

Where To Find The Greatsword In Elden Ring (Guts' Sword)
The Greatsword is found in theeastern section of the map in the region of Caelid. Despite being accessible very early in the game, players should wait and come back to this region until reachingabout level 50-60. While this is a generally recommended level for the region, players can enter and try to traverse it at any level just with added difficulty if attempted too early.
To find the Greatsword, follow the northernmost patheast into Caelid. Following the main road and before reaching the Caelid Ruins will be a carriage surrounded by dead soldiers and multiple Monstrous Dogs eating the soldiers. While the dogs are distracted by the dead soldiers, they are much easier to sneak by should players want to avoid the encounter. The Greatsword islocated in the chest along the back of the carriage.

Starting Scaling
Like most large weapons, players will have to accept this weapon’s slow swing speed. Despite the speed, its high damage and stagger potential will leave most small enemies staggered long enough for a follow-up attack. The Greatsword offers high base damage before the benefits of scaling from the players' stats, making it a great weapon worth sneaking into Caelid to dominate early bosses.
The ability on this weapon is Stamp (Upward Cut), which offers high damage and potential knockback on smaller enemies. This weapon is also a blank slate and can beInfused to deal different types of damagewhile scaling from new stats, beequipped with anew Ash of War, or just be given elemental damage with consumables.
