In every major region of the game, players will encounter a wide variety of plants, metals, minerals, and much more. And the further you get into a run, the rarer the materials you encounter will become. One of the more important crafting materials, which has several important uses, isIron.
Ironis one ofHades 2’s trickier materials to find. Players will likely notice it in several mid-to-late game recipes, but may not immediately realize which region it can be found hiding in. This guide will pull back the curtain on this rare metal, revealing the one place players will find it.

Where to Find Iron in Hades 2
Make sure to bring yourCrescent Pickanytime you are looking for metals, stone, minerals, etc. It is the only way to acquire these materials.
Iron, the rare crafting material used in Incantations and weapon unlocks and upgrades, is found in theRift of Thessaly.However, simply knowing the region where Iron is found does not mean it is simple to procure. Once players gain access to the surface region, which requires steps that will be covered in the next section, they must fight their way through theCity of Ephyra,which culminates inthe battle with Polyphemus. Once that is complete, only then will you enter the Rift of Thessaly.
How to Get Iron in the Rift of Thessaly:
The Rift of Thessaly is made up of several ships that Melinoë must fight her way through. Along the way there, keep an eye out for pyramid-shaped stacks ofcannonballs. Mining these cannonball stacks is how players willfind Iron inHades 2.
When looking for materials, it helps to complete theReagent SensingIncantation for Moly x1. This causes a chime to ring at the end of an encounter if there is a material that can be collected nearby.
How to Reach th Surface in Hades 2:
Reaching the surface requires the player to follow along the main story until the locked Warded gateway in the Training Room, next to the exit into Erebus, is mentioned. The IncantationPermeation of Witching-Wardswill then be unlocked for you to complete at the Cauldron. This removes the ward on the gateway. However, just as Zagreus could not survive on the surface for long, so too does Melinoë suffer death upon remaining on the surface for any length of time. Eventually, Moros will give you theUnraveling of a Fateful BondIncantaion. This will allow Melinoë to stay on the surface. Now she will be able to reach the Rift of Thessaly and collect Iron.
