William Regal made his first appearance onDynamitethree days after hisAEWdebut. Regal was part of a segment that didn’t go entirely according to plan onDynamite. For that, Regal has issued an apology on social media.
Regal made hisAEWdebut on Sunday at the Revolution pay-per-view along with fellow ex-WWE star Swerve Strickland. He marched to the ring following thematch between Bryan Danielsonand Jon Moxley, where the two men refused to stop attacking one another. Regal put himself between the two and forced them to put their differences aside to work together.

Regal made hisDynamitedebut on Wednesday in the corner of Danielson and Moxley in their match against The Workhorsemen. Regal was interviewed in a segment that followed the match, which prompted his Twitter apology toward his new co-workers at AEW. Regal’s apology was related to behind-the-scenes time-related issues, and he said that he “apologized to everyone personally effected.” As a veteran, Regal said that he “should be showing people by example and being a Pro and hitting my times.”
Following Moxley and Danielson’s tag team match, Regal was interviewed in the ring by Tony Schiavone. Regal cut an authentic, emotional, and personal promo thatcovered facets of his own career, including his history with both Schiavone and Danielson. He ended the segment with a warning to the rest of the AEW locker room that if they step into the ring with Danielson and Moxley, they must either, “step up or get stepped on.”
Regal’s comments suggest thatDynamitesegments were either shortened in time or cut altogether. No matter what adjustments were made to modify the show’s on-air schedule, many fans and members of the AEW roster countered Regal’s apology, understanding the emotional gravity of the moment. Prior to his AEW debut, Regal hadbeen a member of the WWE roster, serving a number of roles both on-screen and behind-the-scenes. He was released from his contract with WWE in January 2022 after 22 years with the company.
On air, it was impossible to know that anything was being adjusted behind the scenes. Regal’s segment was promptly followed by a match between The Death Triangle’s PAC and Best Friend’s Wheeler Yuta. That segment was followed by the A.H.F.O.’s emergency meeting that resulted in the AEW debut of Jeff Hardy. No matter what was cut or altered from the show, AEW still managed to deliver a fantastic episode ofDynamite.
