Summary
As opposed to the original weekly Valor cap established inCataclysmandMists of Pandaria,World of Warcraft Classicwill instead increase it by 60%. SinceThe Burning Crusade,World of Warcrafthas toyed with the idea of offering players competitive raid gear obtained by trading in currency. On paper, it was a smart way to ensure bad luck protection and reward players for clearing the content. In practice, the community embraced the feature and took its absence inWarlords of Draenorhard.
Though it had many iterations across severalWorld of Warcraftexpansions, it could be argued that the Justice and Valor Points from Cataclysm were the best approach. Completing endgame PvE activities yielded Valor Points thatWorld of Warcraftplayers could spend on Epic gear, and the standardization of the currency meant that it would stay evergreen all throughout the expansion. When the system made its debut inCataclysm, it had an initial weekly cap of 1250, before eventually settling on 1000 as the perfect number.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic Raises Valor Cap to 1600
However, Blizzard has made an announcementon the officialWorld of WarcraftforumsthatCataclysmClassic would instead have a weekly Valor cap of 1600, allowing players to obtain their Tier 11 pieces significantly faster. Namely, they would be able to obtain the chest and legs in three weeks instead of five. Heroicdungeons inWorld of Warcraftwere famously difficult to complete inCataclysmwhen compared toWrath of the Lich King, and Blizzard has decided to increase the amount of Valor Points obtained per Heroic dungeon to 240.
There is one important thing to consider:World of Warcraftplayers will not be able to earn Valor Points until the first weekly reset. This means that Valor Points will only unlock for European players on July 28, 2025, while the rest of the world will be able to start earning them on July 19, 2025. Thelaunch ofCataclysmClassicis scheduled to be on Jul 06, 2025, which means that players won’t have to wait longer than 48 hours.
The other side of the coin are Conquest Points, which are obtained from completing endgame PvP activities. Blizzard has established that the initial cap for Conquest Points will be 4000, and will increase by 4000 for each subsequent week. However, since the inauguralCataclysmseason will begin on June 04, 2025,World of Warcraftplayers will only be able to start earning Conquest Points after the second weekly reset. Theroadmap forCataclysmClassicteases frequent updates every few months, extending into January 2025 with the launch of the expansion’s final raid – Dragon Soul.
