WhenWorld of Warcraftplayers think of Mythic Keystone dungeons, they usually think about a duration between 25 minutes to 45 minutes at most, but Ruby Life Pools inDragonflighton a bad week is pushing the envelope to some truly disturbing lengths. This infamous dungeon has been trending rather negatively in theWorld of Warcraftcommunity, asMythic Season 1 ofDragonflightenters its second week. Mythic Keystones have overall been harder inDragonflightby design, but many players feel that the difficulty in Ruby Life Pools is several tiers higher compared to its fellow dungeons.

The key suspects that make Ruby Life Pools so difficult this week are its final boss, and the affixes in play.Mythic Keystones follow a weekly affix schedule, and the first affix alternates between Tyrannical (which buffs the bosses) and Fortified (which buffs the mob packs). The weekly affixes for Week 2 happen to be Tyrannical, Grievous, Bursting, and Thundering – the seasonal affix forDragonflightSeason 1. WhileWorld of Warcraftplayers have figured out how to deal with Thundering, it’s no secret that both Grievous and Bursting are often among their least favorite affixes. Once all these factors combine, the resulting outcome is a 170-minute Ruby Life Pools run.

Perhaps the most damning thing about Ruby Life Pools is that the 170-minute run isn’t an exaggerated outlier. While Magikarp_or_Feed may have posted their disastrous Ruby Life Pools key on the officialWorld of Warcraftsubreddit, this Tartarean dungeon has claimed countless victims since Tuesday, and will claim many more before Blizzard Entertainment finally introduces some much-needed nerfs to the instance.

Though the Mythic Keystone Dungeon is a (+20), not everyone can get their hands on a Level 20 keystone.World of Warcraftplayers need to complete a (+19) within its time limit to earn the upgrade, implying that the poor souls who attempted Ruby Life Pools on such a high key were at least competent enough to get there. To have 136 deaths, and to spend an hour and a half bashing their heads against the final boss implies an aberrant jump in difficulty that may even surpass the infamous Tol Dagor dungeon fromBattle for Azeroth. Many healers professed that they would rather be in theVault of the Incarnates raidon Mythic than attempt a high Ruby Life Pools in Week 2.

It’s unknown if Magikarp_or_Feed managed to complete the dungeon with their friends, but finishing a (+20) would make them eligible to receive the highest Mythic+ reward from theweekly Great Vault inDragonflight. As things stand, Ruby Life Pools is headed towards a substantial nerf with absolute certainty. Its current iteration makes it highly undesirable to Mythic groups of all skill levels, and Blizzard will likely want players to engage in all eight dungeons ofDragonflightSeason 1, including its Ruby-headed stepchild.
