Withover 160 superstarsand more still to come via DLC,WWE 2K22’s roster could very well end up being the largest in the series' history. Even in the base version of the game though, not all of the superstars are available by default, with players needing to unlock them by playing through the game.

The bulk of the unlockable content inWWE 2K22can be found in the game’s store, which contains 40 superstars and championships as well as five new arenas; all of which can be purchased using in-game currency. Some of the additional content can only be unlocked through Showcase mode though, which, this year, focuses on the illustrious career of Rey Mysterio.
What is Showcase Mode?
As fans of theWWE 2Kfranchise should already know, Showcase mode typically focuses on the career highlights of one particular superstar and has been a staple of the series since making its debut back inWWE 2K15. In this year’s iteration, players will need to play through 12classic Rey Mysterio matches, the last of which will only become available once players have completed all of the objectives from the first eleven.
For each match that players complete, they’ll unlock new arenas, attires, championships, and superstars, though some of these will only be unlocked if players complete all of the objectives in their respective matches. Doing so is usually fairly simple, but those having trouble can pause the game at any time for hints on how to complete the current objective.

As well as the match and objective rewards, completing all of the objectives in the final match will reward players with 3,500 of the game’s virtual currency. This can then be used topurchase new superstars, arenas, and championships at the store; assuming, that is, that players didn’t already spring for one of the special editions of the game or pay $4.99 for the Supercharger.
