There are currently eight games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass this October, including big titles likeGotham Knights,Cities: Skylines 2, andWarhammer 40K Darktide, first-party games likeForza MotorsportandJusant, and a healthy number of smaller Indies likeMineko’s Night Market,Lamplighter’s League, andHeadbangers Rhythm Royale. But while this collection really has something for everyone, there’s one big genre that’s missing, and after all, October is spooky season.

Xbox Game Pass could use a healthy share of horror games this October, and there are few out there better than this year’sDead Space Remake. One of the greatest gaming remakes ever made,Dead Spacetakes the basic structure of the 2008 original and builds and improves on it in just about every way, from a more open-ended Metroidvania level design to better gameplay mechanics, including more customization options and an expanded story. It’s not for the faint of heart, butDead Space Remakewould be an exceptional addition toXbox Game Pass this October.

The odds of having two excellent horror game remakes drop within just a month or two of one another are incredibly low, but that’s exactly what happened at the start of the year. Just less than two months afterDead Space Remake’s release, Capcom droppedResident Evil 4 Remake, which is yet another superb remake of a classic horror game. Though fans thought it nearly impossible to improve upon the 2005 original,Resident Evil 4 Remakesomehow managed to prove them wrong, at least for the most part, and with itsSeparate Ways DLC now out, there’s never been a better time forResident Evil 4to come to Xbox Game Pass.

With a sequel right around the corner, it’s the perfect time for the originalAlan Waketo hit Xbox Game Pass, preferably in its more recent remastered version. WhileDead SpaceandResident Evil 4are full-on survival horror games,Alan Wakestrays closer to action territory, making it a nice alternate option for those who don’t want to be too spooked this Halloween. And withAlan Wake Remasteredalready having come to PS Plus back in July, there’s presumably nothing stopping it from coming to Xbox Game Pass.
